Olympic Stadium, Phnom Penh

Ironically there is an Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh despite the fact that it has never hosted an Olympics….It is a very interesting piece of architecture and very well used in the late afternoon by the locals who play, walk, run and ride around it.  Many large groups even have exercise classes at the top, each moving in time to their own music blasting from speakers.

By the time we get here, late in the day, my feet ache from all the walking we’ve done today, but would definitely agree the architecture is worth the trip and I’m reminded of the many long walking tours we used to take on our study abroad trips to see some ‘fantastic piece of modernist architecture’ at the outskirts of some small city…this one is worth the trip if you are into architecture or just a late afternoon stroll with the locals.
